The procedure for applying for Romanian citizenship through the consulates in Moscow and St. Petersburg

Below is a detailed procedure, a list of required documents and stages of the process.

List of documents

1. Internal passport (for ID card, a registration certificate is additionally required).

2. International passport.

3. Birth certificate.

4. Certificate of no criminal record.

5. Marriage certificate (if applicable).

6. Mother's birth certificate.

7. Father's birth certificate.

8. Parents' marriage certificate.

9. Grandparents' birth certificates.

10. Grandparents' marriage certificate.

11. Additional documents for children (if any):

• Notarized permission from the second parent (in Russia or Bucharest).

• If the child is between 14 and 18 years old, his or her personal notarized consent is required.

Important: children must travel to submit documents.

Special requirements for documents

• All documents must be current and apostilled (except for passports).

• If the document was issued in the USSR (for example, in the RSFSR), it must be updated at the Civil Registry Office of the Russian Federation.

The process of submitting documents through consulates

1. Collection and preparation of documents:

• After preparing the documents, you contact our partner in Moscow or St. Petersburg (your choice).

• The documents are translated into Romanian, certified by a notary and a certified translator of the Ministry of Justice of Romania.

• The cost of processing one document (translation, notarization) is 5,000 rubles.

2. Sign up for submission to the consulate:

• Our specialist will put you in line and agree on the submission date with you.

3. Submission of documents:

• On the day of submission, our representative will accompany you to the consulate. You will personally meet the consul or his deputy and will be able to observe the entire submission procedure.

• After accepting the documents, the consulate issues an official document stating that your papers have been accepted.

4. Payment for services:

• You pay 20,000 rubles for the representative's services.

• Within 2-3 days after submission, payment is made in the amount equivalent to 4,500 euros, according to the details provided.

Waiting for the order to be issued and the oath

• Case review period: 1.5–2 years.

• After your case is approved, an invitation to the oath will be sent to your e-mail.

You must know the basics of the Romanian language for the oath. This is a simple level: basic phrases such as "Hello", "What is your name?", "Where are you from?". If you need help, you can take 10-20 lessons with a teacher online.

After the oath

1. You receive a citizenship certificate, on the basis of which the following is issued:

• Romanian birth certificate.

• Romanian passport.

2. The process of document preparation takes 3-4 months.
